Routine Article

I really enjoyed this article. It showed that even art pieces can be a routine instead of just being a singular piece of art. Chris Ofili wakes up and paints a picture everyday. This is great because it automatically creates a collection of works and it helps him to develop his style and skill. All of his pieces are cohesive and beautiful.

Transform

I know, I know... they are all pretty crappy.

Freshman Seminar

This week at freshman seminar, different students came in to speak to us about their different experiences during their internships. It was very nice to hear about the time they spent at their respective internships, and it really made me consider finding one of my own. It would be nice to find one that would give me an idea of what I would like to be doing for the rest of my life. Also, it would be nice to find one that pays money. There's nothing like getting paid to learn!

Freshmen Seminar

This week Ben Volta came to talk to us this week. He was very interesting because he combines art with schools and children. A lot of his work is seen around Philly in murals and are lovely. He is very inspirational and makes me want to make art that is influential in the community.

Waking Life

I really fell in love with what we saw of this film. The scenes were so beautiful and the fact that each one was so unique. The concept of different artists creating the different scenes was genius because it gave each one a different style. It ranged from some parts that were hyper realistic, to other scenes that were more graphic and cartoon like. The whole thing was so lovely and I really hope to rent the movie and watch the whole thing.

ALMOST DONE!

I go in the big person shape in the center... I'm just not there yet!

Charles Burchfield

The artist I am choosing for the photoshop project is Charles Burchfield. His paintings are absolutely beautiful. He mostly focuses on landscapes, but they are always in interesting perspectives and show nature in it's most tranquil state. He mainly used watercolor to achieve these wonderful pieces. I really love the style of the work and the natural color pallets. They are very organic and give me a happy feeling inside. =]

Freshman Seminar

So this weeks freshman seminar was all about scheduling for next semester. I found it SO helpful because quite honestly, building my schedule scares the shit out of me. I know most of it is done for us, but that only gives us limited time to do GEN EDS, so it's kind of a battle to find a time. BUT I have confidence that I will find a class and be able to take it and whatnot because I have already done it once! The ladies from the admissions office came to talk with us and help us figure out what requirements we need to get out of here so that was also helpful, but also really stressful. I don't really like planning out my future when I can barely plan out the next 2 hours ahead of me. But hey, at least I have a better concept of what needs to happen!

self portrait

So this is my self portrait and I sort of like it. The process was actually fun and I enjoyed doing it, even though I am not very good at it. I really hope everyone else gets a kick out of it as well!

5 PATTERNS

Here are my patterns!!!!

Doug Bucci

Doug Bucci is a very, very interesting man. He not only is a talented artist but a survivor of many different ailments that have only made him as well as his art stronger. I was very interested in his work because I am hoping to declare my major in jewelry making. I love the pieces he create because they are not only beautiful, but they tell a story about himself as well as millions of others who understand his situation. I felt very inspired after I saw his presentation and I hope to one day achieve what he has achieved for himself.

Lecture Reaction

Candy Depew was the speaker at last weeks seminar. She was a very inspiring woman who has traveled and lived all over the world making creations in various different studios. She specializes in creating sculptures with bone china. The pieces were so beautiful and whimsical. I loved the sword piece and the use of the simplistic colors. I also really enjoyed the apartment she created. It reminded me of Peter Max's work with the use of color and psychedelic concept. Her lecture talked about different studios she has worked in that made it possible to create her beautiful works of art. I really enjoyed her presentation and found it very inspiring.

Labels

This label was pretty easy to do. It mostly dealt with the different shape tools and how they can be manipulated to make a whole new form.

Here's another one for you kiddos!

I made this symbol to represent me because I am an animal lover... and really just love cute things =]
